GOD'S PURPOSE is that we have eternal life
Jesus said "I have come that you might have life, and have it abundantly." (John 10:10) He said, "I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you to Myself." (John 14:3) He wants us to have abundant life now, and a home with Him in heaven forever.
|
OUR NEED is to admit our problem
We are all sinners by nature and by choice. "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." God is holy and just and must punish sin; yet He loves us, and wants us to be in heaven with Him. The good news is, God has provided for the forgiveness of sins!
|
GOD'S PROVISION is Jesus Christ
Jesus is God and became man. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God..and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us." (John 1:1,14) He paid for our sins by dying on the cross: "For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, in order that He might bring us to God." (Romans 4:25) He rose from the dead to be our living Savior.
|
OUR RESPONSE is to receive Jesus as Lord and Savior
"As many as reeived Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God." (John 1:12) How do you "receive Jesus?" Through repentance and faith. Acts 3:19 says, "Repent therefore, and be converted that your sins may be blotted out." Repentance is not just feeling sorry for sins, but "making a U-turn" from our sins to God.
|
AS YOU TURN, you must place your faith in Jesus
"By grace you have been saved, through faith." (Ephesians 2:8) Faith is not just believing facts about Jesus. Faith is trusting in Jesus. it is like taking a trip in an airplane; you will never make the trip until you trust the plane enough to get on board!
|
TO TRUST IN JESUS means to surrender to Jesus as Lord
Romans 10:9 says, "If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart God raised him Him from the dead, you shall be saved."
|
-- Does what you have been reading make sense to you?
-- Is there any reason why you would not be willing to receive God's gift of eternal life?
-- Are you willing to place your faith in Jesus right now and turn from your sin?
|
YOU NEED TO ASK the Lord to save you
The BIble says, "Whoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." (Romans 10:17)
|
PRAY A PRAYER like this: "Dear God, I believe that Jesus is your Son, and that He died on the cross for my sins, and was raised from the dead. I know I have sinned and need forgiveness. I am willing to turn from my sins and receive Jesus as my Lord and Savior. Thank you for saving me. In Jesus' name, Amen."

WELCOME TO THE FAMILY OF GOD!
You have just made the most important decision of your life. You can know that you have eternal life because God's word can be trusted.
|
WHAT TO DO NOW
It is important that you follow up your decision in the following ways:
-- Read the Bible every day. Start with the book of John in the New Testament.
-- Talk to God every day in prayer.
-- Find a church to be your spiritual home. Other Christians will encourage you in your new faith. You will want to be baptized to publicly proclaim Jesus is your Savior.
If you live in the Tulsa area, we would encourage you to attend Living Oaks. If you live in another area, look for your local Southern Baptist church.
You may find help inlocating a Southern Baptist church through our link to the Southern Baptist Convention.
